Video: New Language, ‘No Time’

Since they released their debut album and an EP in 2017, L.A. trio New Language has continued to bring it hard and heavy with a string of singles that draw from the wells of hardcore and metal.

The band — Tyler Demorest, Matt Cohen and Sebastien Betley — has even dialed in some leaden synth to add heft to their latest single “No Time,” which, if played on a proper sound system, would probably register on the Richter scale.

It’s catharsis writ large (and sharply): “Losing my head, losing my mind, losing my head … deadline” come the cries, punctuation by the trio’s signature riffage. “‘No Time’ is the universal anthem that digs deep into the modern everyday stresses of our society that keeps us all constantly running out of time to take the time to focus on ourselves,” the band says.

Director Chris Paris’ claustrophobic, vertical-format for the video fits the song’s trapped-in-our-own-routines theme, as the band and friends scream away their frustrations. Anybody need a good scream?
