Like myriad other bands, the Buttertones have been forced to postpone the big spring tour they had planned to support their new album “Jazzhound,” which comes out April 10.

But fans can get a taste of the L.A. quintet as road warriors in the video for the album’s second single “Fade Away Gently.” It’s a mini-tour documentary directed by Justin Brooks.

“We chose to do a compilation from our most recent tour,” the band says. “It was our first time hiring a videographer for nearly our entire journey. Justin Brooks did a fantastic job capturing some fun times and some beautiful landscapes — from the gloomy lighthouse in Seattle to the bright vastness of White Sands, New Mexico.”

Adds Brooks: “Filming and directing the ‘Fade Away Gently’ music video for me was an all-new experience. Every city and location was a place I’d never seen before. And with such beauty surrounding us everywhere we went, it was a real treat to be doing what we were and utilizing the amazing locations along on our route.

“Capturing the essence of tour all the while creating a narrative to fit the record was the fun part for me,” Brooks adds. “We set aside a lot of time from the boys’ busy schedule to handle this project. So many places! So much to see! It was hard to make a choice on exactly where we should film, but I’m very pleased with our round of choices along with our fun times that were captured on the day-to-day basis.”

“Fade Away Gently,” which follows the February release of the title track, is a pretty croon-tastic jam on an album full of them, with singer Richard Araiza deep into wistfulness about the passage of time. Bassist Sean Redman says the track is “melancholy and full of regret but acceptance that we’re in the midst of life and we need to be open to change. Musically, this track has a resemblance of our earliest days as a group.”

“Jazzhound” arrives via the L.A. label Innovative Leisure.
