Quarantunes: A playlist by WILD

“Why does it feel like it’s worse before it gets better?” asks L.A. trio WILD on their latest single. We wonder that as well. In today’s edition of QUARANTUNES, Buzz Bands LA catches up with the trio, who aren’t letting the COVID-19 shutdown slow them down:

THE LATEST FROM WILD

Lauren Luiz, Zach DeGaetano and Tyler Thompson — who make harmony-laden folk-pop under the name WILD — have been infiltrating the music world since their early singles in 2015. They released their “Laces & Layers” EP in 2018 and have piled on with a bunch of singles since then, many of which have found their way onto television and into commercials (Mazdas zoom to “This Is Our Time,” for instance). “Do It All Again,” released this week with a cameo in “American Housewife,” was their second single of 2020. WILD have their sights set on releasing a new EP later this year.

HOW ARE YOU HOLDING UP AND WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO MANAGE THE ‘STAY AT HOME’ EDICT?

Holding on! It’s a small internal battle every day mostly, with the uncertainty of how long this will last and the fear of losing loved ones or getting sick yourself. But we’re trying to stay positive and keep on with as many normal activities as possible. Playing a lot of video games. Still writing and producing music every day, bingeing TV shows and movies. Just taking it one day at a time!

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO WHEN THIS IS OVER?

Well, quarantine or not, we’re releasing tons of new music over the next few months, so we’re super excited about that. And definitely looking forward to touring as soon as it’s allowed and safe to do again.

ANYTHING WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THIS PLAYLIST?

Songs are coming from all three of us, so they’ll be ranging in genres. But all will be great company in these tough times.
