DESTRUCTO

A staple of the West Coast electronic music scene for well over two decades, DESTRUCTO is blasting music from his living room and dreaming of his next All My Friends festival during this coronavirus shutdown. In today’s QUARANTUNES, he shares a playlist that traces his upbringing in L.A., from his own bangers to ’80s and ’90s legends. And he has something special planned for Easter Sunday:

THE LATEST FROM DESTRUCTO

As a promoter, entrepreneur, label impresario, DJ and recording artist, Gary Richards — aka DESTRUCTO — has been a straw that stirs the drink in L.A.’s electronic music scene since his days in the underground in the 1990s. He was founder of the original Electric Daisy Carnival and piloted the HARD Events franchise (HARD Summer, Day of the Dead, Hawaii, et al) for years before moving on in 2018 to launch the All My Friends festival. He remains remarkably prolific as a performer and collaborator — his latest single “Bandz” features Yo Gotti, Kevin Gates and Denzel Curry, and earlier this year he dropped some remixes of his 2017 track with Gotti, “Loaded.” In March, he began live-streaming his “Sunrise Sermon” sets (for a taste, here was his set in January aboard the FriendShip cruise). The Easter edition of “Sunrise Sermon” begins at 5:30 a.m. Pacific time on April 12 and is available on Twitch.TV, Facebook and YouTube.

HOW ARE YOU HOLDING UP AND WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO MANAGE THE ‘STAY AT HOME’ EDICT?

Staying busy making and releasing music and blasting live streams from my living room. I’ve also doing lots of quality family time with my wife and kids.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO WHEN THIS IS OVER?

Having the most massive party with All My Friends to celebrate the end of this pandemic.

ANYTHING WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THIS PLAYLIST?

It’s just a musical journey of my life in L.A. growing up.
