BIIANCO

One of Buzz Bands LA’s 2020 Artists to Watch, BIIANCO’s ascent in the ranks of experimental and alt-pop artists took it to the chin when the coronavirus all but shut down the music world. But she has her nose to the grindstone in the studio and still finds things to be grateful for. She shares that, along with a playlist sure to get you in motion, in today’s QUARANTUNES:

THE LATEST FROM BIIANCO

It feels like a lifetime ago, but it was only back in February that BIIANCO released the new song “Chlorine” — along with a single-take dance video made for Saramonic’s Roadieographer ad campaign. [Go here to watch the stylish video.] “This is my ode to young love in all its manic, wild and not-sober glory,” she says of the song. Branching out from her work in the duo Smoke Season, she debuted her solo project in 2019, has released four singles and today is curating/hosting one stage of the Uncancelled Fest, performing along with Vōx, tiLLie, VÉRITÉ and Ella Vos.

HOW ARE YOU HOLDING UP AND WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO MANAGE THE ‘STAY AT HOME’ EDICT?

BIIANCO: I’m lucky to have a studio in my house, so I’ve gone heads-down buried into my work. Have almost finished my mixtape at this point. I’ve also been connecting with my fans via livestream performances. I try to keep these full-setup so it feels almost like a real BIIANCO show. Almost … Overall, I’m OK. Some days are better than others. I’m grateful for my health and my home, though.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO WHEN THIS IS OVER?

BIIANCO: Touring. I was supposed to be opening for VÉRITÉ on a North American tour and I really can’t wait to get back out there. And hugging people. I really miss hugging people.

ANYTHING WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THIS PLAYLIST?

BIIANCO: Spent a lot of time in bathtubs listening to these songs.
