On the heels of releasing a two-song collaboration with Cosmo Gold and William Tyler, Valley Queen’s Natalie Carol has been practicing bending time during the COVID-19 lockdown. How? By going down some “sonic wormholes,” she tells Buzz Bands LA in today’s edition of QUARANTUNES.

THE LATEST FROM VALLEY QUEEN

Last week, Valley Queen unveiled the flip side of a 7-inch made with Cosmo Gold’s Emily Gold and guitarist William Tyler. Following the cinematic A-side “Your Red Light,” the new song features Tyler laying down burnished guitar tones while singer Natalie Carol laments that “Bad Astrology” makes for a lousy apology. If anybody can sing the stars into alignment, it is she. The limited-edition 7-inch is available here.

HOW ARE YOU HOLDING UP AND WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO MANAGE THE ‘STAY AT HOME’ EDICT?

Natalie Carol: I’ve felt a range of feelings from extreme elation to extreme restlessness and agitation. Luckily, my very handy roommate Andrew Katz helped me rig up my own little recording studio in my tiny room, so I’ve been going down a lot of sonic wormholes. That helps to bend time. In some ways, this has been very liberating — having all the time in the world to experiment.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO WHEN THIS IS OVER?

Natalie Carol: Touring and making out with people.

ANYTHING WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THIS PLAYLIST?

Natalie Carol: I tried to keep it to themes that would impact us in quarantine, but I also just added bangers that I’ve listened to over and over again for years.
