Los Lobos, Mariachi El Bronx to perform July 4 at Oak Canyon Park

Los Lobos and Mariachi El Bronx will team up for a drive-in concert at Oak Canyon Park in Orange County on July 4. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday.

While the COVID-19 pandemic has savaged the live music industry, the concept of drive-in shows — yes, just like the movies — has cropped up around the country. The Oak Canyon Park show, being promoted by a trio known as So Cal Drive In (Jon Reiser of O.C.’s Garden Amp, Chris Lisk and Jim Filipan of FKOA Presents), is the first attempt at a major drive-in event in Southern California.

The concert will feature 12 rows of cars (with up to six people allowed in each) with tiered pricing from $150 to $500 per carload. In addition, there will be socially distanced lawn seating (bring your own chair) at $30 per person. There will be space adjacent to each car to camp. Food, beverages and merchandise will be delivered by golf carts. Illustrations on their Instagram page attempt to simulate the view patrons will have.
