FUZZ — the trio of guitarist Charles Moothart, bassist Chad Ubovich and drummer Ty Segall — tapped none other than the legendary Steve Albini to produced their third album (and first since 2015).

“III,” out Oct. 23 on In the Red Records, follows the movie-length “II,” a movie-length album that tested the wills of the hardiest of headbangers, not to mention stretched the boundaries of what is thought of as a side project. Segall, Ubovich and Moothart have so many axes in the fire it’s hard to keep track, but suffice to say there’s no need to adjust the volume level when segueing from one to the other. Keep it at 10.

Having worked with Albini at Hollywood’s United Recording, the power trio says that “III” is primal and mostly overdub-free. The slashing, pummeling “Returning” is the lead track; do not go gently into its night.
