Porno for Pyros to reunite as Lollapalooza plots 4-day Lolla2020 online fest

Historic sets by headliners Paul McCartney, Chance The Rapper, OutKast and Arcade Fire as well as memorable performances by LCD Soundsystem, Metallica, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Ellie Goulding, Run The Jewels, Lorde, Alabama Shakes, Tove Lo and more will join new live sets by Alison Wonderland, Carnage, H.E.R., Kali Uchis, Kaskade, Louis the Child, NGHTMRE, Pink Sweat$, SAYMYNAME, Tank and the Bangas, the Neighbourhood, Vic Mensa, Yungblud, ZHU and more for this year’s 4-day Lolla2020 broadcast on YouTube and Lolla2020.

Beginning at 3 p.m. every day starting this Thursday, Lollapalooza does a heavy pivot in releasing not only over 150 archived and new performances from its Chicago home and international stages, but also sessions hosted by LL Cool J on break dancing, MCing, graffiti, photography and DJing.

The Toyota Music Den will also feature emerging artists DaniLeigh, mxmtoon, Masego and Princess Nokia; and the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) will also host an online stage featuring venues in the area with performances by local artists Jamila Woods, KAINA, Heavy Steppers with Jamal Smallz, Peter CottonTale, Rebirth Poetry Ensemble, Emon Fowler, Linda Sol and the Era Footwork Crew.

Chicago Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot will be interviewing Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell and LL Cool J, and Farrell will also be interviewing Lars Ulrich (Metallica), Chuck D (Public Enemy), Matt Pinfield and more. 

In addition, Farrell will lead performances by the Kind Heaven Orchestra, Janes Addiction, a tribute to David Bowie with Mike Garson, and the first Porno for Pyros reunion in 24 years.

Selema Masekela’s “What Shapes Us” podcast will also feature festival-centered interviews with Farrell, PineappleCITI and Atiba Jefferson.

The full schedule will be released on Wednesday.

The broadcast is free and will be partnering with First Lady Michelle Obama’s When We All Vote, the Equal Justice Initiative and the Arts for Illinois Relief Fund.
