In today’s “three-pack,” new singles from three L.A. rock acts we recently covered more extensively.. Strap in:

TEENAGE WRIST, “Silverspoon”

Teenage Wrist have returned with their first single since last year’s “Counting Flies” EP, and it’s a rager. “‘Silverspoon’ is a song we’ve had in the bank for several years now, something I started before we even wrote all of [2018’s] ‘Chrome Neon Jesus.’” says singer-guitarist Marshall Gallagher, who assumed frontman duties last year after the departure of Kamtin Mohager. “We made a few changes to fill up the blank space, and it ended up poking its head out during the recording process this spring. Originally, we thought it was going to be the last track on the record, kind of a deep sleeper, but everyone ended up loving it so much by the end that it got bumped to single No. 1.”

L.A. WITCH, “True Believers”

On the heels of their July single “Gen-Z,” L.A. Witch has released the third single from their forthcoming album “Play With Fire,” out Aug. 21. “‘True Believers’ is about being overwhelmed with the constant stream of news and information we see everyday. It’s about feeling anger and frustration with the state of the world,” says Sade Sanchez. “In a way, the track mocks the All Lives Matter culture that has come to fruition in the U.S. At times when you’re traveling around and meeting new people, you get into conversations about social matters and different political standpoints. A lot of people don’t believe they have any power over the matters concerning them, and that can be frustrating. It can be difficult for people to see themselves having an actual impact with what we’re all facing in the world today, all you can really do is take it day by day, lead by example, and know that any and all change starts with you. It’s important to always believe in who you are, even through all the chaos.”

CHEEKFACE, “Big Big Friend”

“I come from a long line of people / a long line of people who procreated,” Greg Katz speak-sings in the new single from Cheekface. It’s the latest wink-and-nod from the indie-rock cutups, who last spoke of things like “Emotional Rent Control” and “Reward Points.” There’s nobody quite like them.
