Scottish indie heroes Arab Strap have returned with their first single in 15 years, and if it isn’t bloody great, at least it’s bloody.

“The Turning of Our Bones” is the first new music from Aidan Moffat and Malcolm Middleton since their sixth album, 2005’s “The Last Romance.” Having reunited just once since then, in 2016, the duo teased their return recently with the slogan “Back from the grave and ready to rave.”

The grave certainly figures into the new single’s horror-movie visuals, edited by Ciaran Lyons, which are full of blood, guts and zombies.

“‘The Turning of Our Bones’ is an incantation, a voodoo spell to raise the dead,” Moffat says. “Inspired by the Famadihana ritual of the Malagasy people of Madagascar, in which they dance with the corpses of loved ones; it’s all about resurrection and shagging.”

The song will be out in October as a 7-inch, along with “The Jumper.”
