A good dream-pop tune has the ability to refresh the musical palate, and Sumeau’s latest single, “Circle Circle,” to be featured on their forthcoming LP, “This is Not a Dream,” does not disappoint.

The Los Angeles-based group, founded by lead vocalist Kat Primeau and Chris Sousa, kicked off the Labor Day Weekend by releasing the cool and refreshing “Circle Circle” — their first release in six years. The group has expanded quite a bit since their debut self-titled LP in 2014, which at the time consisted of just Primeau and Sousa. Now, Sumeau has a total of nine members. The duo welcomed George Chammas on guitar, keyboardist Dan Macken, Julia Chalker on the violin, Molly Dworsky on vocals, Harrison Lee on cello, Alex Keenan on drums and Ian McAllister on percussion.

Primeau says, “Circle Circle is a tribute to the womxn in my life who give me hope for the future. The song celebrates the uncanny power my friends have to reach out just at the moment I am despairing most and remind me of all the beauty in the world.”

“Circle Circle” has percussive synth and guitars with just the right amount of chorus that make you feel like you’re catching a coastal breeze. It’s Primeau’s voice, though, that reminds you that you’re floating, as you continue to ride out the wave.

“This is Not a Dream” will be released November 13.
