ANNIISS

Victoria Cecilia has made music as part of the Los Angeles-birthed dream-pop/shoegaze outfit Gliss for more than 15 years. Currently back in her native Copenhagen, the singer-songwriter-producer has debuted her dark, Nordic alter-ego ANNIISS.

The name derives from the 17th-century tale of the last woman to be convicted of witchcraft during the Danish witch-hunt. She was beheaded and burned.

So, just in time for Halloween, here is the harrowing video for ANNIISS’ latest single, “In Your House.” The video was shot in various locations in Denmark, but mainly in the dark basement at Ørslev Monastery and its 1,000-year-old church. Ørslev dates back to the early 12th century and was built as a Benedictine nunnery, which remained in function long after the Reformation in 1536, with the last nun leaving in 1587. The video is the work of Cecilia, Mark Sovel, Jonas Jonas and the artist’s Gliss bandmate, Martin Klingman.
