■ Big Thief were in the middle of touring Europe when the SARS-coV2 virus turned into the Covid-19 pandemic and all venues shut down throughout the world. Returning to the States, frontwoman Adrianne Lenker took up the offer to stay in a one-room cabin in western Massachusetts. Soon, new songs rolled out and with the help of Philip Weinrobe and borrowed equipment from many friends, the albums “Songs” and “Instrumentals” were recorded, mixed and later mastered by Scott Hull. Lenker released both albums via 4AD in October. Yesterday, her live performance for NPR’s Tiny Desk (Home) Concerts aired, filmed in a mobile home in Joshua Tree, CA. Enjoy her wondrous set of five songs (“zombie girl,” “two reverse,” “dragon eyes,” “anything” and “ingydar”).
