CLUB ORO have returned with a sweet new single titled “Sorry,” and it’s a playfully remorseful tune dedicated to a companion that wanted to be more than “just friends.”

The track is a flow-y, indie electronic tune that has a fun bassline and dreamy guitar notes. Lead singer Cassandra Cronin’s vocals are a breath of fresh air that feel slightly reminiscent of ’90s pop, one of many touchstones of the quartet’s cross-pollination of styles. The tune carries on ever so lightly before breaking into a slow groove for the last minute.

Cronin says, “‘Sorry’ is a letter to a beloved friend who wasn’t truly satisfied with their relationship to me. We had a wonderful friendship, but it always seemed like the more I let them in, the further they wanted to go. They wanted to be my best friend, my lover, my confidante and everything else — all while keeping me at arm’s length. It made no sense and left me feeling the need to apologize for the unrequited emotions, even though to me the ‘friend zone’ isn’t a bad place to be at all. If you’re my friend then that’s a privilege you shouldn’t take for granted, because I don’t just let anyone be my friend!”

“Sorry” is the follow up to the bands single, “Cavities,” which was released in October along with a music video. The group appears to have found their rhythm and are cultivating a special sound.
