■ Bostonian-via-Dallas singer-songwriter Anjimile (né Anjimile Chithambo from Malawan parents) had a breakthrough in rehab discovering his trans identity. His new album, “Giver Taker” (released via Father/Daughter Records) is a folk-infused, intimate window into his journey of self-acceptance and catapulted him to Alt/Indie Artist of the Year and Vocalist of the Year at the Boston Music Awards. In a recent appearance on “Live on KEXP at Home,” he shares in an interview with DJ Gabriel Teodros about growing up with his parents blasting ’80s music on Saturdays, stanning Shakespeare’s iambic pentameter love sonnets, and being inspired by Sufjian Stevens and the Notorious B.I.G. for their clarity. His acoustic set includes the songs “Your Tree,” “Baby No More,” “1978” and “Maker” from the new album, ending with a cover of Laura Marling’s “Soothing” from her 2017 album “Semper Femina.”
