Tempest is the name for the solo project of Long Beach’s Tatiyana Bello, a 25-year-old singer-songwriter-producer who, with her latest three singles, is carving out a space for herself in the crowded pop/R&B world thanks to her sleek vocals and sharp lyrics.

She’s been working with producers such as Louie Lastic, Los Hendrix and Jay James — all three are credited on her latest single, the heart-wrenching “Sorry to Say,” which arrived this week. Tempest views both sides of the relationship in the song, the heartbroken and the heartbreaker.

“‘Sorry To Say’ is speaking about how you can be heartbroken over breaking someone else’s heart,” Tempest says. “This video shows how someone can be so in love and sure about someone while the other person has completely checked out of the relationship. We get to see both perspectives in real-time.”

The slick music video, directed by Lakewood Mall, stars the singer and Uncle Patti, with the split screen telling the story of each (and both).

“Sorry to Say” follows two strong singles Tempest released last year, “Not the Same” and “Young Playa Footage.”
