L.A. rockers the Dumes, the project fronted by former pro snowboarder Elodie Tomlinson, got off to a running start in early 2019, introducing themselves with some bold singles for an EP that was planned for that summer. It didn’t quite work out, and this being the internet age, things “un-released” and re-recorded.

Today’s new rocker “Caught” (formerly known as “Caught in the Middle”) arrives as the latest single from the Dumes’ debut EP, “Everything Is Horrible,” produced by Joe Chiccarelli and out on April 23.

Anchored by the rager “Neverlost,” which was released last fall, the EP is five songs of alt-rock ferocity, with Tomlinson’s striking vocals leading the way. She’s backed by guitarist Peter Recine, drummer Chris Dunn, bassist Liam McCormack and guitarist-keyboardist Kyle Biane.

Of “Caught,” Tomlinson says: “When I first moved to L.A., I was a naive 18-year-old from Utah that trusted everyone. ‘Caught’ is about all the lessons that took me way too long to learn. Looking back, I can laugh, but whenever we play this song, I feel the same angst I felt when writing it. ‘Caught’ is actually the first song I wrote for the Dumes, and it’s had a lot of phases. It was truly brought to life during pre-production with Joe Chiccarelli; he highly encouraged total ‘fuck you’ vibes.”
