Livingmore (Joseph Cultice)

Almost three years since they released their debut album “OK to Land,” L.A. quartet Livingmore has landed with the new single “Sharp,” a shimmering rocker that brought a smile to our faces for two reasons. First, it recalls the iconic backbeat of Blondie’s “Heart of Glass.” Second, it simply feels good … in a way that can only be summed up like this.

Indeed, Livingmore frontwoman Alex Moore says, “‘Sharp’ was inspired by the idea of how our different energies mix with the wardrobe we wear allowing us to feel comfortable expressing ourselves.”

“Sharp” is the lead track on the quartet’s sophomore album “Take Me,” coming out May 21 with a vinyl release to follow in the summer.

“It’s a dance-your-problems-away album,” Moore says. “Even though we all go through bummers, we can still jump around, rock out, have a good time, and not take life too seriously.”

Adds guitarist Spencer Livingston: “It’s happy-sad music. We really combined the spectrum of our influences to make you move.”

The band — Moore, Livingston, drummer-keyboardist Mike Schadel and bassist Rodrigo Moreno — recorded the album at its own studio, with Schadel handling the production and Josiah Mazzaschi mixing and mastering. The video for the single was directed by Moore’s brother, Dillon. Says Alex: “[Dillon] listened to the song and said it brought back memories of our mom honking the horn when we’d drive under a tunnel and scream out loud into the abyss. He wanted to capture that free feeling in the video, which was perfect because writing the song definitely felt freeing for me.”
