■ Whispercore duo Azure Ray played a set this weekend celebrating their 20-year anniversary on Paste Magazine’s “Paste Studio on the Road” series (focusing this past week on L.A. bands and musicians). Filmed at the Hotel Cafe, with sound engineering by Andrew Barkau and filmed by Brad Wagner, singer-songwriters Maria Taylor and Orenda Fink began their set with “Displaced” off their self-titled debut album, followed by the title track to their upcoming album, “Remedy” (out June 11 on Taylor’s label, Flower Moon Records), and “November,” the title track of their first EP. Other L.A. artists featured in the Paste Studio series recently include: Nick Waterhouse, Gaby Moreno, Scarypoolparty, Sunny War, Run River North, Girlpool, Joyce Manor, Pearl Charles, Josh Radnor and more.
