Ears Wide Open: Crisis Actor

Crisis Actor are a throwback punk trio, balancing a bleak worldview with a sense of humor and making songs for the high-speed chase of daily news.

The band is comprised of guitarist Tony Knox (whom you might recognize as the host of KXLU’s “No More Heroes”), bassist Zach Crawford (who DJs as Paul Cinnamon) and drummer Jonathan Ihejeto (the hip-hop artist Jet 2). They could cite any number of first-wave punk bands as influences and we’d believe them. That the events of recent years seem prime fodder for the rage of first-wave punk makes us wonder why there is not a Crisis Actor on every street corner.

Anyway, the trio will release their debut album “False Flag” later this year. They debuted in February with the downright incendiary “Burning Up” and followed two weeks ago with the two-minute blast “Feed Me Drugs.”

Take these two pills and call me for the next warehouse show.
