Remember when weed was illegal and musicians wrote silly ditties singing its praises on 4/20? Here it is 4/20 and marijuana is legal and artists are still doing it. Cool? You decide. Here are new dispatches from Sumeau, Together Pangea and Jhené Aiko …
SUMEAU, “Vitamin Weed”
Sumeau, the self-described dream-pop music cult who in November released their album “This Is Not a Dream,” meditate on “Vitamin Weed” in their new single. Like the lyrics say, “inhale” and “exhale,” not necessarily in that order.
TOGETHER PANGEA, “Marijuana”
“None of us smoke weed,” Together Pangea confesses about “Marijuana,” the crispy new rocker they released today. Speaking of releases, isn’t it about time these guys sprang a new album on us?
JHENE AIKO, “Tryna Smoke”
This is not a new song — it’s from Jhené Aiko’s Grammy-nominated album “Chilombo” — it’s just a new video. “If I could fly / I’d probably never come down / with all of the bullshit, confusion on the ground,” she sings. We hear that.
