On “Room to Breathe,” his 2019 debut album as Low Hum, indie-rock alchemist Collin Desha decried an oppressively noisy world short on sonic space. The irony, of course, was that he was contributing to the cacophony himself with his meticulously layered neo-psychedelia, which, rough edges and all, forced its way into your headspace.

If some of Low Hum’s debut felt downright claustrophobic, you ain’t heard nothing yet. Today, Desha revealed “All I Know,” the second track on his forthcoming album “Nonfiction” (arriving later this year via Last Gang Records). Over a distorted crush of throbbing beats and a tornado of synth, the songwriter frets over becoming one of the “soul-sucking walking dead” trapped in “chasing my own tail.”

That paranoia is heightened by the futuristic video, directed by Taylor Brown and Brad Scott.

The song, Desha explains, “explores unconditional love, and how sometimes the things you love can be the most difficult landscape to navigate.” It’s the follow-up to “Escape,” the first single from the album co-produced by Jon Joseph.

Low Hum will be doing a streamed show, “Low Hum Live at Sunset Sound,” on May 20. Info here.
