Long Beach duo Pageants, who’ve cultivated their lovably fuzzy sound for almost a decade now, return with their second album, “Sun and Settled Days,” on July 30.

The duo — partners Rebecca Coleman (vocals, keyboards, guitar) and Devin O’Brien (bass, guitar, drum programming) — distill simple themes of love and longing into a sound that draws from dream-pop, shoegaze and vintage ’60s pop (think early Best Coast, Ian Sweet, Tacocat). As opposed to their 2018 debut album, “Forever,” Coleman’s bright vocals are less reverb-drenched and more forward in the mix on the new album’s first two singles.

The latest, “It Might Be Crazy,” oozes young love. “Written when my and Devin’s relationship was spread thin across the continent while he toured with Cherry Glazerr [for whom he played bass], and my vision of what was possible in my own music career was narrowing on the daily, ‘It Might Be Crazy’ became an anthem for those hit with the reality of their circumstances,” Coleman says. “This was a time in my life when I realized that everything I’d been working for might have been in vain, but I chose to keep fighting for what and who I love.”

The new song follows the April release of “All Bets Aside.”
