Hello New York City, cheers from El Monte, the Red Pears are back.

A year and a half since the release of their “Alicia” EP, the trio of Henry Vargas, Jose Corona and Patrick Juarez today returned with a new but sonically familiar single, “Not in the Cards.” It teases an as-yet-unannounced new album they’ve been crafting at the Sonic Ranch studio in Tornillo, Texas.

If you’ve followed them since the first of their two full-lengths (from 2015, still one of our favorite titles: “We Bring Anything to the Table … Except Tables We Can’t Bring Tables to the Table”), you know they’re capturing the energy of the Strokes and running with it. “Not in the Cards” is the latest hand they’ve dealt.
