Buffy Sainte-Marie and Jewel

ONLINE FIND:

Buffy Sainte-Marie and Jewel appeared together on the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this past week. The two legendary singer-songwriters shared about overcoming obstacles and abuse growing up, taking inspiration from nature and, as dyslexic musicians, discussing musicality beyond reading music, namely authenticity, emotions, healing and using the medium to raise issues. Sainte-Marie founded the Nihewan Foundation for Native American Education, where she created the Cradleboard Teaching Project to build native-centered school curriculum through indigenous school partnerships with university teaching programs. Jewel created the Never Broken online program for mental health empowerment, which also partners with the Inspiring Children Foundation to mentor and provide youth with physical and mental health skills leading to their success through education.
