Harry the Nightgown

Harry the Nightgown is the partnership of Sami Perez and Spencer Hartling, who got together working in John Vanderslice’s Tiny Telephone Studios in the Bay Area and have since landed in L.A. to work at his new Grandma’s Couch Studio.

They released their self-titled debut album last year and this summer brought their wildly experimental pop to Dangerbird Records as the latest artist on the L.A. label’s Microdose series.

“If You Were Wrong” and “The Painter” are the singles released via the series, each clattering with a mix of bent synths, distorted percussion, guitars and the juxtaposition of the duo’s vocals, Perez’s airy and Hartling’s baritone. The songs have the feeling of having left two kids alone in a roomful of toys, and, a lot of confusion later, something surprising gets built. Play on.
