Legendary L.A. quartet X on Saturday night returned to the place they made famous in song, “Los Angeles,” for a career-spanning, one-night-only concert at the Greek Theatre.
The show served as a belated (due to the pandemic), 40-year anniversary celebration of their seminal debut album, “Los Angeles.” The band — originals Exene Cervenka, John Doe, Billy Zoom and DJ Bonebrake — played the record front to back, wedged between other favorites from their catalog.
Violet Grohl, daughter of Dave Grohl, joined the quartet to sing on “Nausea.”
X had returned to touring late this summer when they played O.C.’s Pacific Amphitheatre. Earlier this month, they announced they would reboot their annual series of holiday shows with a series of six gigs titled “X-Mas Re-Zoomed.” Included: a Dec. 18 show at the Observatory.
** Update, Oct. 27: X just announced an additional two nights of their holiday series at the Teragram Ballroom. Tickets go on sale Friday for shows Dec. 3 and Dec. 4.
