Today’s video roundup goes on a little psychedelic musical journey: Check out visuals from Dream Phases, Film School and Triptides

DREAM PHASES, “In a Box”

L.A. psych-folk trio Dream Phases this month released their sophomore album, “New Distractions,” a collection that finds Brandon Graham, Keveen Baudouin and Shane Graham sliding (perhaps too) languorously into spacey reverie. The vibe is inviting, but one wishes some of the bite from 2019’s “So Long, Yesterday” would surface — or more songs like “Post TV.” “In a Box” is a genteel mood elevator, and the video was directed by Matt Lingo. Check out all of “New Distractions” on Bandcamp. Dream Phases celebrate their album release with a show Saturday at the Goldfish in Highland Park, joined by Communicant and Sam Small. Tickets.

FILM SCHOOL, “Said Your Name”

“We Weren’t Here,” the sixth album from shoegaze/dream-pop outfit Film School, arrived in September, and the shimmering single “Said Your Name” finds guest vocalist Noël Brydebell adding some sparkle to the proceedings. The video was directed by Tyler Heckerman, who says: “Collaboration and exploration is what fueled my creativity on this project. I am grateful Film School was open to experimenting with various film techniques to capture our dreamy effects in camera. A visual representation of their tone and album artwork was important to me. When creative visions align, and yes is a common response, we can create something uniquely beautiful.” Adds the band’s frontman, Greg Bertens: “We wanted the visuals to give the effect of uncertainty, like the couple aren’t exactly sure where they’re at or where they’re heading. The projections and layering and shadows and fog create a shadowy dream where these two can’t seem to connect.” Film School celebrate their album release with a show Friday at Zebulon, joined by Draag and Mo Dotti. Tickets.

TRIPTIDES, “So Many Days”

It was only last March that Triptides released their eighth album, “Alter Echoes,” and next spring will bring the follow-up, “So Many Days.” Indefatigable purveyors of the Laurel Canyon sound, founder Glen Brigman, drummer Brendan Peleo-Lazar and bassist/guitarist Stephen Burns made the new album in the San Bernardino Mountains. The video, directed by Adrian Vega Albela Osorio, takes you there, where Brigman’s vocals are as clear as the blue sky and the view is sublime. “‘So Many Days’ is an ode to those seeking something greater in a time of disconnection — searching for themselves or a higher purpose — and appreciating the journey along the way,” Brigman says. “The video contrasts the isolated experience with a connection to the natural world and the freedoms that life has to offer in spite of everything.” The single is available as part of a 12-inch EP via Curation Records.
