MOONCHILD, “You Got One” (feat. Alex Isley)

Moonchild, the neo-soul trio of Amber Navran, Andris Mattson, and Max Bryk, are prepping their fifth album, “Starfruit,” out Feb. 11. After unveiling the first single “Too Good” back in October, they’re back with another jazzy, silky-smooth jam, “You Got One.” This one features vocal contributions from Alex Isley (daughter of The Isley Brothers’ Ernie), who harmonizes sweetly with Navran. Isley is one of a host of collaborators on the album, including Lalah Hathaway, Tank and the Bangas, Rapsody, Ill Camille, Mumu Fresh, Chantae Cann and Josh Johnson. Moonchild headlines the Fonda Theatre on May 11 (tickets).

NEIL FRANCES, “Where I Become Someone” (feat. Benny Sings) and “Finding Rhythm” (feat. Grae)

Fresh off their March EP, which featured collaborations with Poolside and Raffaella, the L.A. duo of Jordan Feller and Marc Gilfry are closing out 2021 with two bops from their debut album, “There Is No Neil Frances,” out Jan. 28. Their breezy, lightweight disco gets a boost on these tracks from Benny Sings and Grae, respectively; on “Where I Become Someone,” released today, Benny Sings and Gilfry soundtrack the party. “This song is about becoming,” Gilfry says. “It’s about the feeling of being in a transitional state, eyes on the sky, ready to ascend to the great disco ball in outer space.” Speaking of disco balls, Neil Frances’ run of shows to celebrate the album includes dates Jan. 23 at the Glass House (tickets), Jan. 29 at the Fonda Theatre (tickets) and Jan. 31 at the Constellation Room (tickets).

NIGHTJACKET, “Darlin’”

As we’ve mentioned, we were “away” a while, but we would be remiss not to encourage you to spend five minutes with “Darlin’” from Nightjacket. The L.A. dream-pop outfit, with Canadian-born singer Andrea Wasse now fronting, released their “Following the Curves” EP in May, and this fall’s new single was recorded and mixed with Adam Lasus and produced by the band’s Jordan Wiggins and Louie Schultz. The song “is a sweet, lush little tune about finding your soulmate, and there, in the glow of the twin flame flickering together, the hardships of life melt away,” Wasse says. “The perfect companion for a slow dance in the apocalypse with the one you love.” Fade into this:

KID MOXIE, “Better Than Electric”

Greece-born, L.A.-based Elena Charbila — aka Kid Moxie — is readying her third full-length, “Better Than Electric,” set for a June release. Her cinematic pop has found a home in film, commercials and video games, and she had a busy pandemic, releasing her soundtrack to the film “Not to Be Unpleasant, But We Need to Have a Serious Talk” and a collaborative EP with LUXXURY. British producer MAPS (James Chapman) co-wrote and produced the pulsing title track to her album, which Kid Moxie says was inspired by downtown Los Angeles. “Tonight this city breathes with me / she makes me dream big,” she sings, and ain’t that the truth.
