Mark Oliver Everett — or at least a CGI version of E — explores the ocean floor in the video for “The Magic,” the latest single from Eels forthcoming album, “Extreme Witchcraft.”

It’s the 14th full-length from Eels, arriving Jan. 28, and the follow-up to last year’s “Earth to Dora.” Everett co-produced the record with PJ Harvey producer and guitarist John Parish — the first time they recorded together since 2001’s
“Souljacker.” And holy time warp, that was 10 albums ago.

As the first three singles attest, Eels continue to find ways to thrill. Everett could be referencing his own craft when, in “Good Night on Earth,” he sings: “Remember what you been taught / Soak it all in like tonic and gin.”
