Here’s a singles potpourri, featuring new tracks from Cheekface, Kyle Krone and Sun Kiss. It’s all about variety.

CHEEKFACE, “Featured Singer”

Cheekface, the speaking-singing L.A. indie-rockers who lead the league in absurdist humor, are back with another tongue-in-Cheekface single, “Featured Singer.” The follow-up to “We Need a Bigger Dumpster” (and before that, their second album “Emphatically No” and its B-sides EP), it’s a contender for most Cheekface song ever. Frontman Greg Katz deadpans: “I want to be the featured singer on an EDM song / The one they play at parties on fraternity row.” Plus, it has cowbell.

KYLE KRONE, “Daydream Nightmare” and “Find Someplace to Call My Own”

O.C.-based singer-songwriter-producer Kyle Krone has had a busy year. Casual Vice, his duo with Brandon Hoogenboom, released their debut album, “On the Exotic,” in September. In between some other collaborations, Krone found himself with some songs that didn’t fit the Casual Vice vibe — and he’s released four singles in the past month. The latest, the sparkling indie-rocker “Daydream Nightmare,” came out today. He’s a little dreamier on “Prime” and the downtempo “Blue Prints,” and those who remember his work with the Shys might dig the classic rock feel of “Find Someplace to Call My Own.”

SUN KISS, “Treat You Right” and “Melt Away”

Marcus Buser (of Bird Concerns, as well as a touring/studio bassist for the likes of Laura Jean Anderson, Van William, and Jamie N. Commons) released his first solo single in 2019, and he has since adopted the name Sun Kiss for his project. Last year saw the release of the EP “Bad Dreams,” and Sun Kiss has followed this year with a trio of singles — buttery slow jams that’ll sound best by candlelight (surely your phone has an app for that, right?). If you want to soundtrack a holiday romance without any holiday songs, press play on “Treat You Right,” or Sun Kiss’ whole catalog, for that matter.
