Ears Wide Open: Lou Roy

Lou Roy is the new venture from singer-songwriter Caitlin Notey, who in 2019, following some label woes, closed the book on her work under the name Huxlee.

Working with co-producer Sarah Tudzin (Illuminati Hotties), Lou Roy is prepping the release of her debut album, “Pure Chaos,” out April 29 via the U.K.’s Balloon Machine Records.

If, as the title suggests, the album is the songwriter’s attempt to sort life’s everyday chaos, the new single “Uppercut” lands with a bang. You could do worse for an empowering pick-me-up, as Lou Roy dismisses haters and pledges to “have fun / even when we’re back on earth as pond scum” with rock-’em, sock-’em enthusiasm.

“Valkyrie,” released last fall, is the lead track on the new record.
