Singles roundup: Catching up with recent releases from Caroline Kingsbury, Joy Weather and Molly Moore …

CAROLINE KINGSBURY, “Strawberry Sheets”

“Strawberry Sheets” is one of those tracks that simply beams — dreamy vocals on a cloud of synths, along with “a melody that makes you cry.” It’s Caroline Kingsbury’s first single since last year’s full-length “Heaven’s Just a Flight,” a sparkling all-things-’80s album highlighted by songs such as “Hero” and “U Take It Back.” The release got additional legs from the inclusion of “Fall in Love” in the film “Scream.” As for “Strawberry Sheets,” which was made with producer Math Bishop, Kingsbury says: “The song is a beautiful sonic world I created to retreat to during these difficult times. I needed something repetitive and beautiful to get lost in.”

JOY WEATHER, “A Little While”

The follow-up to last November’s “For the Weekend,” “A Little While” finds Joy Weather (Brian Ishiba, Ed Baida and Joey Grabmeier) going acoustic. It’s a heartrending reverie about a boy with a crush who knows, ultimately, “I ain’t got a chance.” But hey, a guy can dream.

MOLLY MOORE, “Shy”

Pop chameleon Molly Moore continues to search for a chewy center in her candy-coated musical explorations. Her wildly hit-and-miss album “Voice on the Internet” came out in November. And the New York native is following up with new EP, “Escapism,” coming out Friday. Songwriter-producer Noah McBeth — aka NoMBe — is in the picture on the latest single “Shy,” as well as last fall’s “Marco Polo.” A pop-soul finger-snapper with horns and a sheen of woozy production, “Shy” is about that moment when sparks start to fly.
