The ’90s are alive, well and in good hands, thanks to acts like Milly. The Los Angeles-based trio led by singer and guitarist Brendan Dyer, shared with the world their newest single, “Illuminate,” earlier this week.

“Illuminate” is about “the comfort found in self-expression and reminding yourself who you are by acts such as putting your favorite photos (posters) up on your wall or rearranging your room,” Dyer says. “It was written in a time when free time felt unlimited (2020) and I was staying up late self-reflecting.”

The track was recorded with Gleemer’s Corey Coffman, and the production value is noticeably greater. Dyer’s voice blends in nicely between the sections of heavy distortion and passages of clean guitars.

In the video, shot by Mark Cheche, we see the group sitting in the trunk of a station wagon, performing in a garage and illuminating the grunge life.

“Illuminate” is the group’s first new music since the release of their sophomore EP, “Wish Goes On,” released via Dangerbird Records and featuring lead singles “Denial” and “Star Thistle Blossom.”
