Stream: Fatal Jamz, ‘Taste the Rain’

The new single from Fatal Jamz is almost too perfect.
In all its glossy elegance and vocal splendor, and befitting the L.A. duo’s genre appellation “pleasure wave,” “Taste the Rain” is the first release from Fatal Jamz in more than five years. That distinction, though, should come with an asterisk, since over the past few years singer-songwriter Marion Belle had a host of equally glam-tastic releases under his own name (notably, the “Kisses + Chrome” EP) — also made with his Fatal Jamz cohort Nicholas Allen Johns.
Fatal Jamz earned a cult following for the 2016 full-length “Coverboy,” which should have been on repeat wherever disco balls twirl and romance happens. Alas, Fatal Jamz remained under the radar.
A nearly note-perfect dancehall dream, “Taste the Rain” soars through the misty memories of a love affair. If Belle’s arching chorus doesn’t strike a nerve, you’d better get a tingle tuneup.
