Here we have a pop bop that starts with whistling, advocates for a summer getaway and arrives with an oh-so-colorful video co-starring a dog named Carrot. There’s nothing not to like.
“Don’t It Feel Good,” indeed.
It’s the latest single from Lucy & La Mer, the solo project of singer-songwriter, irrepressible optimist and occasional ukulele-slinger Lucy LaForge.
The song, a collaboration between LaForge, Cliff Magreta and Jack Duff, arrives in celebration of Pride Month, which, the artist says, “is about community and celebration. I’m releasing this song now because I want to inspire folks to let go and live in the moment, especially anyone who is still feeling the weight of the world around them. You deserve moments of absolute joy.”
It’s also good for shaking off the cobwebs from the pandemic. “After spending most of the last two years at home,” LaForge says, “I really started to feel my insecurities and self-doubts come back when I started to socialize again. But now, I finally feel ready to get back out there and explore and have fun.”
