L.A. duo Great Northern pulled back the curtain on their darker, heavier sound in January with the release of four singles marking their first new music since the album “Tremors” was released in 2015.

Now, in advance of today’s appearance at BottleRock Napa Valley, longtime collaborators Rachel Stolte and Solon Bixler are back with the industrial-strength single “ANIML.” Think of it as the sound of seething.

“‘ANIML’ is a rebellion to the current state of the world. We find ourselves feeling quite defiant as we watch what is unfolding,” the duo says. “It holds the feeling of teetering on the edge of the old and ushering us to break free. Sonically speaking, it’s as if Siouxsie & the Banshees and Trent Reznor did a software update and collaborated. ‘ANIMLÆ in its natural state will rise up.
