Ears Wide Open: Hyderdaze

Bicoastal duo Hyderdaze make gritty dance music that recalls the heady days (daze?) of electroclash.
It’s a sonic direction that Sarosh Qadri and Bryan Anthony have taken on two singles released this year via Lolipop Records.
The latest, “Social Suicide,” was penned by Qadri about feeling like an outsider in both the real and digital worlds. “I’ve got personality / I’m a freak and a wannabe” suggest that people adopt a veneer of practiced cool rather than be who they truly are. And “What’s real? What can I believe? / I choke, all I see is social suicide” conveys how Sarosh felt witnessing a flood of misinformation being spread online.
Weighty matters to consider while dancing your shoes off.
