Go Betty Go

A new single from pop-punk troupers Go Betty Go in 2023 seems almost a miracle.

The quartet — Betty Cisneros, Michelle Rangel and Nicolette and Aixa Vilar — roared out of Glendale in 2000, released their lone full-length “Nothing Is More” in 2005, toured like crazy, broke up, reunited in 2012 and released a well-received EP, “Reboot,” in 2015. In 2022, as they began to work on another album, Cisneros — whose full-throttle guitar playing gave the band its name — was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. Bandmates and the community rallied around her and the GoFundMe campaign to help defray medical expenses.

Working around Cisneros’ chemotherapy and surgeries, the quartet has made that album, “Black and Blue,” with producer Davey Warsop. Release plans are TBA, but today, via Wiretap Records, GBG released the single “Keep Up,” a typically adrenaline-charged rocker as energetic as anything the foursome did two decades ago as ferocious youngsters with something to prove. Celebrate.
