Conor Oberst has unveiled plans for a four-week residency in the spring of 2024. Dubbed “Conor Oberst & Friends,” the shows will take place every Thursday in March at Teragram Ballroom.
Kicking off on March 7, each week will find Oberst pulling from three decades of releases by his band Bright Eyes, as a solo artist, a member of Desaparecidos, leader of The Mystic Valley Band, with the Monsters of Folk supergroup, and in Better Oblivion Community Center with Phoebe Bridgers. The special shows will feature surprise guests and a rotating backing band.
“I’m very excited about these residencies,” says Oberst, who will also do four Thursdays in April at New York’s Bowery Ballroom. “This is something that me and my booking agent Eric have talked about for years, but the timing was never quite right. Now the stars have finally aligned and we couldn’t be happier. It will be a lot of work putting together a different band and set every week, but it’s a challenge that I think will be rewarding.” Local musician friends from Oberst’s time living in both cities will be lending a hand for a unique alchemy each show. “Not completely sure how it will all turn out but that is the best part about it.”
