Singer-songwriter, dancer and all-around creative Jessie Payo hasn’t released a lot of music from her solo project Pom Poms — the 2017 album “Turn You Out” was notable — but she’s kept the flame burning with two singles this year.

They’re both what one would call proper rock songs. Payo’s nervy vocals advocate for escaping to watch the world burn from outer space in “Galaxy,” which was made with longtime producer/co-writer Billy Mohler and features a little shredding from Nick Reinhart (Tera Malos, Disheveled Cuss). Co-directed by Riley Bray and Payo, the video has Payo losing her skin in Hollywood.

It’s Pom Poms’ second single of 2023, following the May release of “Money on the Floor.”

Additionally, Pom Poms join the likes of Cat Power (with Iggy Pop), Peaches (with Shirley Manson), Bush Tetras, Lydia Lunch, Donita Sparks, Tanya Donnelly, Josie Cotton and Joan As Policewoman as contributors to the double-LP, “The Faithful: A Tribute to Marianne Faithfull.” The collection, to which Pom Poms contributed a version of 1979’s “Brain Drain,” is out Friday.
