FOMO Fest 2016 may or may not allay your Fear of Missing Out, but it’s a good way to start your year. The one-day mini-festival comes a month earlier than 2015’s, thankfully, and offers 13 bands from whom we’re likely to hear plenty this year.
Some have started establishing their pedigrees — Cobalt Cranes have released two albums and are working on a third; Northern American issued their highly regarded debut in 2015; Prettiest Eyes unveiled their album last February; and the Molochs are working on the follow-up to their 2013 debut. Miya Folick, Sun Drug and Sego released three of our favorite EPs of 2015; Breakfast’s “Amulet” earned that band some love too.
Others have new releases coming soon: Bird Dog’s debut EP is out this month; Sego’s hotly anticipated full-length is out March 4; Draemings has a full-length in the works; and it shouldn’t be long before Veronica Bianqui gives us something more than just her one single.
Two of artist aren’t repped in Buzz Bands LA’s mixtape here: Folk-soul man James the Human and Ford Madox Ford, the new blues band from Chip and Tony Kinman, once of the first-wave L.A. punk band the Dils.
