On Aug. 18, Carpark Records will release “Across The Multiverse” by Dent May, an album we’ve been anticipating since he let loose a single last summer, “Face Down in the Gutter of Your Love”. This will be May’s fourth record, following 2009’s debut on Paw Tracks, “The Good Feeling Music of Dent May & His Magnificent Ukulele,” 2012’s “Do Things” and 2013’s “Warm Blanket.” It explores themes of modern romance, existential baggage and space travel. To introduce at least two of these concepts, May shares the title track, a duet with Frankie Cosmos about lovers finding each other somehow across the multiverse. With strings, horns, and layers of synths bouncing off each other, “Across the Multiverse” tells an extraterrestrial love story. So if the population of planet earth doesn’t work out, there’s always the possibility of a soulmate waiting in a hotel bar light years beyond our solar system.
