You might recognize the Winslow song “Origami Tiger” from director Julius Onah’s drama “Luce,” which stars Naomi Watts and Octavia Spencer.
The song — the fourth single from the duo of Kate Miner (of the folk-rock band Miner) and Briana Lane — gets its own feature on the small screen with today’s release of the video, directed by Tim Barnsley and starring Sterling Sulieman (ABC’s “Station 19” and “Still Star Crossed”) and John Lange, along with Miner and Lane.
Miner and Lane, whose collaboration began in a garage on Winslow Drive in Silver Lake, make beguiling folk-pop dusted by guitar, synth and the pair’s twining vocals. On “Origami Tiger,” they combine to evoke the swirl of romance — the intoxicating feeling of newfound love and the sober realization that those emotions can quickly fade, which plays out in the song’s almost-gospel chorus “We lost it / We lost it.”
In between juggling their respective acting careers — Miner portrays Tami Tamietti on Showtime’s “Shameless” and Lane had a busy year as well — Winslow is finishing up work on a new EP, planned for a January release.
