Jared Southard (of Low Flying Owls) has teamed up with Chris Swimley on the new project Heady Daze.

Last month, the duo released their first single, “Call of the Wild,” a propulsive, shoegazey rocker that should appeal to fans of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and that band’s sonic ancestors.

Southard has been ensconced in the Joshua Tree area for a while now, and he sounds fine with it: “Raised by wolves / then set free / The wilderness / has captured me,” he declares over the driving bassline. Find your own open road.
