[Today: Happy birthday to Mike Patton. Tonight: Some nifty little shows in the neighborhood.]
Speaking of birthdays, Michael Runion [pictured] is celebrating today. The Jenny Lewis/Elected sideman and solo artist is playing a Bootleg Theater show along with a bunch of his musical co-conspirators, including Rilo Kiley drummer (and now solo artist) Jason Boesel and Z Berg of the Like. … SISU, a quartet featuring Sandra Vu and Ryan Wood from the (currently idle) band Midnight Movies, headlines Spaceland tonight. The foursome, which deals in ethereal, experimental soundscapes, in November released its “Demon Tapes” EP. Tonight, Asbury and Twilight Sleep support. … The Airborne Toxic Event, with Aushua supporting, plays a big (and sold-out) benefit for Friendly House LA at the Troubadour. … Lucy Schwartz [recently featured] celebrates the release of her “Help Me! Help Me!” EP at the Hotel Cafe. … Nick Jonas does another night at the Wiltern. … Also: Daniel Ahearn and Kissing Cousins at Echo Curio; Rev. Peyton’s Big Damn Band at the Echo; I Will Never Be the Same and Love or Death at the Viper Room; the Hundred Days at Club Moscow at Boardner’s; Silent Star at the Silverlake Lounge; and Dustbowl Revival at Bordello.
