It’s “Shoegaze Saturday” for our QUARANTUNES series — we touch base with L.A. quintet Draag, who last month released a new EP. Their playlist is a most eclectic beast.
Check out “Austin City Limits” performances by Billie Eilish, the Raconteurs, Vampire Weekend and more. Plus, live streams today from Ben Folds, Jack Johnson, Lauren Ruth Ward, James Supercave, Ike Reilly and Shannon Lay, among others.
The fifth in our QUARANTUNES series features Sea Wolf, whose new album came out last week. It calls for a communal celebration, but, of course, that will have to wait. His playlist, on the other hand, is a celebration unto itself — RIYL Joni Mitchell, Run the Jewels … and ambient whale sounds.
Carré is a trio of Los Angeles-based Frenchmen, rattling cages (and perhaps filling dancefloors) with dark, caustic electronic music.
Gateway Drugs return with their first new music in five years. “Wait (Medication)” is the first single off their sophomore album “PSA,” arriving in May.
Ben Gibbard releases the new song “Life in Quarantine.” Plus, a monster list of today’s live streams and another on how to support L.A. venues and their employees.
In today’s QUARANTUNES, Maria Taylor and Orenda Fink of Azure Ray talk about time for writing and share a playlist shining with golden oldies.
Fans will have to wait a while to see the Buttertones live, but director Justin Brooks’ mini-tour documentary, which serves as the video for the new single “Fade Away Gently,” captures the essence of the road warriors. The Buttertones’ new album “Jazzhound” is out April 10.
Small Planets, the L.A. post-punk outfit who released their debut album last fall, return with a new EP on Friday that includes a new version of the song “E,” rerecorded with Slowdive Simon Scott.
