Video: Ethan Gold, ‘Nonstop’

Ethan Gold’s 2011 album “Songs From A Toxic Apartment” is like the gift that keeps on giving. Legend is that the San Francisco-bred songwriter penned the album in a dilapidated Los Angeles abode in between working on music for film and playing in other bands. The fully orchestrated songs adhere to no particular aesthetic – it’s avant-pop, or maybe savant-pop – but Gold’s material lost none of its toxicity, or charm, when he played it in stripped-down fashion at Buzz Bands LA’s SecondTuesday earlier this year. The single “Nonstop” is best all the way plugged in, though. And the video is a hoot – yoyoing between his Robert Palmer and David Bowie personas. It’s all very … addictive.
