There are some dark things going on in the riveting new short film from L.A. art-pop outfit Figs Vision. Really dark.

Directed by Jake Saner, the narrative is set to the song “Elle You’re Walking,” a bouncy synth-pop number that’s the first new music from Figs Vision — Jordan Spoliansky, Gunner Sixx, Zackary Darling, Mike Musselman and Mario Cerutti — since their 2014 debut “Mother.” The band calls it: “The beginning of the true story of Figs Vision. A story of love, culthood and adventure.”

The titular character, portrayed by Savannah Harrison, is a member of a desert-based community practicing strange rituals and free love, and dominated by the menacing Fig (Jack Cleland). Elle is expelled from the clan, and, well, watch the video, which features choreography by Matt Luck. “Elle You’re Walking” is just the first episode in new audio/visual output from Figs Vision. Says the band: “It was easy to become lost in the idea of somewhere to belong and therefore a great deal of time was spent heaping substance into the desert. If Elle were here, she’d be dancing. The story begins with her.”
